The proposal is to implement architectonical nature-based solutions to mitigate the heat island effect and to rethink the role of the public space in relation to climate change that will culminate in a series of gardens capable of raising the resilience of this public space in Madrid. “The Garden for Romantic Crossovers” links humans, non-human animals, biological entities, and technology, in a non-anthropocentric cohabitation infrastructural garden promoting both constructive and environmental strategies that go beyond traditional discourses associated with ecology. The main aim of the prototype presented at the Matadero Madrid exhibition hall is to test on a controlled scale the construction and performance of these future scenarios. A fabric canopy suspended in a lightweight structure above a 4m diameter circular space gives shadow to the hanging aphrodisiac and aromatic vegetation species that will inhabit the gardens creating a scented naturally controlled microclimate protected from cold winter temperatures and excessive heat in the summer that will facilitate among others the relationship between humans and other species transforming Matadero Madrid into a biodiversity pole in the city. In addition, a set of UV bulbs allow us to perceive aspects of the plants that we don’t usually see, the thermal lamps will gently arise the temperature when needed by the inhabitants of the garden and a set of hung soil pods and water tanks will not only ensure the necessary conditions for nourishment but they will also regulate the humidity of the space to welcome birds, insects, plants and humans. The proliferation of concepts such as Anthropocene, Capitalocene, or Chthulucene, depending on the precision on which we would like to refer to the present moment, is a clear example of that. Solstice is the launch of a post-anthropocentric architecture through the design of a multitude of material assemblages, that turns the project into an open laboratory of exploration of new narratives, both technical and aesthetical. A structure of wood, assembled by 16 vertical sections and 4 horizontal sections, milled with a CNC machine, supports a 6cm golden roof, and an interior ceiling made of white foam. As transition elements between interior and exterior, there are 16 capitals worked on the origami technique, and to protect the interior from the prevailing wind there is an exterior curtain made of woven nylon threads. In this way, the pavilion is an opportunity to work with shapes and materials that are not usually common usage in architecture. Flowers, branches, or stones collected onsite share importance with other materials such as wood, strings, plastic elements, or foam to configure the space. House” is the renovation of a 110 sqm apartment in Madrid to update the domestic space according to the new models of use and environmental consciousness after the emergence of the new climate regime and fossil fuel crisis.The project is developed under three main ideas: The first one is the work with thermal gradients for the functional and programmatic configuration of the house, as opposed to a more traditional scheme based on the combination of rooms and corridors. In the new proposal, the distribution considers the climatic and environmental specificities of each space. As if it were the layers of an onion, the spaces of the house get nested each one inside of another. This operation allows us not to use corridors saving this space for the rest of the house as well as working as a method for saving energy. As we get close to the central spaces of the house, they get more and more insulated and have less need in terms of extra energy. This kind of climatic diverse distribution is inserted in a context of energetic scarcity and a continental climate characteristic from Madrid, with strong heat waves during summer and intense cold periods in the winter, and allows us to unify functional program, climate, and efficiency.The second idea is the use of materials with low CO2 emissions, basically wood and natural cork as the main materials. The flat is mainly oriented to the North and its lacks of solar energy contribution. This fact significantly reduced the palette of possible materials; it was essential to look for a material that had a high performance as an insulation to reduce energetic losses, but at the same time it had little inertia so it was quick to warm up.And the third idea is to build, both for economic and energetic reasons, just half of the total surface of the house and empty the other half including its windows, creating like this a sort of interior non-conditioned terrace. Taking into account both the little resources and the Madrid climate that has high temperatures most of the year, we explored the possibility of understanding the 110 sqm of the flat as an empty shoe box where we “only” built on its interior another 60 sqm perfectly thermally insulated box (Winter House), leaving the spare 50 sqm as an interior terrace (Summer House). What seemed a restriction in the beginning (a very low budget) turned into a multiplying element with this action. Two houses for the price of one. The materiality of this “Summer House” acts opposite to that of the “Winter House”. The insulations on the walls, ceilings, and floors are removed and the surface of these elements was finished with cement mortar that has a great inertia to capture the heat during the summer, stealing it from the interior air. Finally, the incorporation of a wood stove and a folding door system extends the usability of this space for the rest of the year.Around these three basic ideas, some other complementary strategies both material and programmatic, reinforce the project:The space of the kitchen is understood as a non-gender-related space. An open configuration of the kitchen encourages the equitable use of its space by the different members of the family. The materiality of the kitchen isn’t different from that of the space for living or dining and its worktop is placed at a 75cm height instead of the standard 90cm, which allows it to be an indissoluble part of the dining table or office desk and connects the kitchen with the rest of the house.The advantages of sleeping together are countless, both for climatic and energy-saving reasons and for the reinforcement of emotional links. The project chooses to build a single and “communal” bedroom regardless of the number of inhabitants of the house. A big, long, and spatial complex bedroom that incorporates different layers allowing different ways of the relation between the inhabitants.The bath spaces are also reconsidered. The project proposes a hedonistic and playful vision of these spaces which are located on the best parts of the house close to the façades. They are well-illuminated and well-ventilated and understood as spaces to use even by several people at the same time.Finally, there are other minor aspects, but also important that have been considered when designing the project. For instance the incorporation of a suitable place for vegetation life in the flat. Not only for aesthetic or welfare reasons, but the incorporation of a good quantity of plants in the domestic sphere will help to keep a fresh environment during the summer. in the coming decades.&nbsp; Cities are the focus of this process mainly due to the concentration of CO2 emissions, the heat island effect, and the limited area of green areas, whose species are often selected with merely aesthetic or functional criteria, causing a homogenization of urban species and greater insecurity about ecosystems. The proposal reflects on possible models of public space capable of helping to reverse this situation. A mobile device in the form of a reservoir is home to a multitude of trees, plants, shrubs, and insects capable of mitigating the effects of global warming or stimulating biodiversity. In this way, species capable of absorbing ten times more CO2 than usual, edible wild species that open up new possibilities in our food sovereignty, or species that are capable of summoning other agents through the establishment of relationships of mutualism, tenantism, or symbiosis will be some of the guests who will meet at the installation. During the festival, this artifact will move through the streets of Barcelona acting as a pilot project of what could happen: portable gardens that move to the areas of greatest concentration of pollution, new green spaces that are temporarily placed in highly densified areas, or open classrooms for interspecies botanical knowledge. The project is built from the temporary, material, and political possibilities of the present but to imagine future scenarios that are as necessary as they are desirable. The starting point for a future Frac is crossed by a multiplicity of agents; insects, plants, climatic conditions, and soil have established certain relationships that are worth to be taken into account when designing any kind of architecture. &nbsp; Our “Dôme de co-habitation” floats over the soil that has allowed this ecosystem to inhabit the space, and incorporates a whole set of technologies to achieve the optimum conditions of comfort for these initial inhabitants. Because we imagine a society supported by caring, that stands up for the weak, based on cooperation instead of competition and symbiosis instead of extractivism. From this apparent dichotomy between the low budget available and the ambition to completely transform the home, the main decisions that articulate the project arise: 1_Work with thermal gradients for the functional and programmatic configuration of the house instead of the most usual through the combination of rooms and corridors. In the new proposal, a distribution is chosen where the climatic and environmental specificity of each space is different. As if it were the layers of an onion, the different spaces of the house are nested inside each other, from the coldest to the hottest, to take advantage of each layer of air and material without having to provide extra energy. This type of distribution, climatically diverse, allows for the unifying of functional programs, climate, and efficiency. 2_Elevation of the built elements of the house using recycled table legs allowing the free passage of water and electricity installations without the need to make grooves on the walls, thus reducing costs and working time. 3_Reduction of the material palette to the maximum: materials are chosen that maintain a cost/structural and energy efficiency ratio that is as balanced as possible. In this sense, the main materials used in the construction are standard MDF panels and local natural sheep wool. 4_Elimination of the item for new coatings (paint, plaster, tiles, etc.) after demolition and replacement by a simple thorough cleaning of floors, walls, and ceilings. The traces of the previous partitions, flooring, and electrical appliances are left visible after their demolition, thus saving both in the purchase of new materials and in execution times. 5_Hedonistic and playful vision of the bathroom and kitchen spaces that come to occupy the best parts of the house next to the facades. Well-lit and ventilated, they are understood as spaces to be used even in crowds. The kitchen element is understood as a space without associated gender. An open kitchen configuration encourages equitable use of its space by different members of the house regardless of their gender. The materiality of the kitchen is not different from that of the rest of the house, reinforcing this integration. 6_Self-construction. A reform exclusively made through "dry" assembly work is proposed that allows the incorporation of "non-experts" in its construction process. As if it were a piece of furniture, the different parts of the house (walls, ceilings, pillars) arrive at the site previously cut using CNC technology from the plans drawn by the architecture studio. Once on site, and simply using standard screws, they are assembled by the architects and the client according to a small instruction manual without the need for specialists. sparking a spatial revolution—from pioneering blues and jazz venues to the birth of Chicago House in legendary spaces like the Warehouse. Yet, nightclubs are often perceived as dark, autonomous interiors dedicated solely to hedonistic sound. In reality, they are dynamic arenas where bodies, technologies, spaces, and politics are continuously negotiated and reshaped. Since their emergence in the 1960s, nightclubs have shaped, contained, and disseminated a distinct architectural language: discotecture—the architecture of the disco. These spaces embody the political and social constructs of their time, acting as stages for evolving cultural expressions. Discotecture is both an ongoing performance and a collection of assemblages that reveal the intricate relationships between bodies, technologies, media, and environmental ideas. Through interactions between designers and clubgoers, DJs and dancers, as well as the interplay of technology and regulation, discotecture fosters unexpected connections and new forms of belonging. The proposed intervention examines the spatial elements that define nightclubs through a comprehensive lens—extending from the dancefloor to sound and lighting systems, from flyers and media to makeup, hairstyles, chemical regimes, and architectural interventions beyond the club’s walls. Through an immersive installation that spans the entire space—from walls to ceilings and floors—along with a collection of mobile devices, visitors will embody various altered states in which discotecture is explored.
