Ms. Alicante, cultural and botanical atlas

Alicante, 2015
For an exhibition showcasing the past 13 years of Final Degree Projects of the University of Architecture at Alicante, we suggested to include a carpet at the beginning of the exhibition. This carpet would serve as an introductory element and aim to represent the natural, cultural, and social events that are crucial to understanding the unique subjectivity of the University of Alicante.

By gathering mussels, oranges, lemons, orange blossom flowers, branches, "fallera" fabrics, and braiding, we created an entity that is both human and non-human. The purpose of this entity is to showcase everything that contributed to the development of the ideas and concepts behind the displayed projects. Moreover, it highlights the University's commitment to redefine the discipline through critical interventions and practical actions.

Ms. Alicante is a project that explores the connections between the University of Alicante and the surrounding countryside. This includes classes held at the beach or in rural areas, as well as discussions about concepts such as ecology and transparency. The project also examines cultural traditions in the area, such as the Sant Joan Fires, processions, and the  “belleas alicantinas”, which help to raise questions about beauty, taste, and participation. Additionally, the project looks at the role of Benidorm as a hub for contemporary tourism, the pleasant weather that promotes stronger personal relationships, and the local cuisine that plays a central role in the daily interactions between students and teachers.
