Eat Me!
Madrid, 2021
"Eat Me!" is the name of the cake that made Alice grow so fast that her head arrived and touched the ceiling. In this case "Eat Me! is the device that hosts the presentations and lectures of the Urvanity 2021 Urban Art Festival. This disproportional dimensions device is articulated in three parts: a set of stands related to the projection screens to follow the conversations produced during the festival, a great bench for chilling and chatting in small groups directly related to the garden, and a 3m by 3m round bed for disconnecting with a big chandelier on the top.
Following some previous works of the office and the research on proposals where hedonism or techno materialism are used as production weapons both aesthetical and political, "Eat Me!" uses led light colors to create an intense colored environment that goes from red to pink and surrounds the visitor, transporting him/her/them to a space where conventions, as well as happened to environmental light, could be altered. Besides, the use of furr and foam for upholstering the structure encourages the unexpected usabilities of the device as well as looking into the experimental character of the projects of the office.
"Eat me!" is 20m long by 7m wide and its structure and finishing - following the regular reusing politics of the office - comes on one hand from previous works (chandelier, electric devices, chains, tensors, led lights) and on the other hand will be used in future projects: stand, foams, round bed, etc...).
