Cabinet de Curiosités

Madrid, 2019
As a first step in the realization of “the garden for romantic crossovers” for Matadero Madrid, the construction of a device is proposed that, like the Renaissance “cabinets de curiosités”, organizes, archives, and displays those material elements that define the specificity of Matadero.

Based on work sessions and taking into account the different agents involved: artists, visitors, managers, specialists, those lines of research have been defined to allow us a greater understanding of the complex and multi-layered reality of Matadero: climatic, botanical, animals, technological and social.

As if it were a toolbox, this device allows a clear view of the collected materials but without proposing unique or excessively simple reading modes for Matadero. Once finished, the "Cabinet de Curiosités" will become part of the center's permanent collection so that it can be updated periodically.
