Pink Mountains, climate shelter for humans, birds, and other species

The large accumulation of materials such as asphalt and concrete in our cities, cause what is known as the heat island effect, which translates into temperatures up to 8ºC higher in these areas than in rural or natural environments, thus contributing to global warming and affecting the different species that live in urban centers.
This phenomenon is especially intense in the Ramblas of Barcelona during the summer, where 200,000 people pass every day and up to 15 species of birds make their nests.
The project adds to the Santa Mònica Arts Centrre terrace a device capable of softening the climatic conditions of its surroundings, establishing itself as a climatic refuge for different species where relationships different from those usual in Las Ramblas can be established, generally based on consumption.
A large roof creates a shaded space and contains branches and natural elements that can be used by birds to accommodate nests that are placed in the highest parts of the facility. A garden in the central part summons insects and pollinators while cooling the temperature of the complex and a perimeter bench invites users to rest.
