In Transit, migrant-plant shelter

Barcelona, 2023

The northward progression of the desertification line as a result of climate change is creating new political figures such as the climate migrant: a person who is forced to migrate as a result of changes in the place where they live.

But humans are not the only climate migrants: the optimal conditions for microorganisms, plants, and other species are being displaced, and their places of origin will therefore change, casting doubt on concepts such as autochthonous vs. allochthonous.

The project came about as a result of considering cities as spaces where species coexist together, and it attempts to include and protect some plant species that will form part of the local landscape in the Barcelona of the future, taking nature as a political project, and bringing the discussion on environmental ethics to Palau Robert cultural center.
